renault-design-academy-india-moneet-chitrodaRenault Interior Designer Moneet Chitroda meets Design Academy India’s interns

Since 3 months, the 4 Renault Design Academy India Internship program interns, in Chennai India, keep on working hard to achieve their objective: get hired by Renault  at the end of this adventure.

For those that do not know yet, Renault recently opened the Design Academy India special internship program in its new Design studio in Chennai India. Objective of this initiative is to select some of the best talents from design schools and form them with a very close to reality working program, the 2 best at the end will be offered a real designer job contract.

From an idea of Patrick Lecharpy, and managed by Luciano Bove the Design Academy India counts on a trainers’ team of 12 professional Renault designers. Each week a trainer flies to Chennai to spend his/her week with the interns and supervise their project development.

Anybody can follow this incredible activity via Renault Design Academy India’s Facebook page on which you will see lots of photos and videos plus the weekly EPISODES sort of short videos of how they are moving on with this internship. Please LIKE the page if you check it!

So, where are we today with our interns?

Actually they are in the process of starting their Alias virtual models according to their chosen concept, at the end of this month Renault VP Design big boss Laurens van den Acker will be visiting the Design Academy and check their work in progress with Patrick Lecharpy, Luciano Bove, Alain Lonay, Philippe Ponceau.

In other words the program is moving to model making step and, before that, some strong feedbacks will be given to the interns by the top management. Smitesh, Gautam,Nhikil & Aditya (the 4 interns) will present their works to get precious advices and move on with their projects according to the planning.

The final Design Academy presentation is expected for the 18th of October.

What Age to Get into Car Designers’ Market? Some Tips.

The Car designers’ market changed a lot in the last 20 years thanks to many new design schools popping out as mushrooms around the world. How this is affecting the car designer market?

It is clear that today the hiring age is lower than some years ago. A young designer out of school is hired at the age of 21/23 years old, this is the reason why the age factor is very important to get into a car design studio. Naturally a real talent will always have his/her chance even if older…but it remains an exception.

IED Turin Italy – Riccardo Balbo school director welcomes new students

October is the month, during which, many Design Schools and Universities open their doors to start a new academic year.

There are the fresh new young students dreaming to start finally they beloved Design training experience, those that have to continue their courses (the ones in the middle of their journey), and those that at the end of this year will just finish school to start a new adventure getting a real designer job.

My advice to all design students is to work hard with strong sense of responsibility. Remember why you are there, stay concentrate on your objectives, you are in a magical place that will help you to get out the best of your skills, talent, and determination to become a designer.

Listen to your teachers, however move on and also listen to your heart. Be respectful, but be competitive, don’t give up learning by your mistakes.

You choose a very special professional career and also a vary rare one so work your ass off to hope you will deserve a place in a design studio somewhere some day in your life.

I wish you all the best!

Do you have a Vision? You better do!

How many design students are going to school thinking about what they are really doing for their future?

I know that you are all very happy because you are in school! You have been accepted and you did start your preferred school to become designers. I know that feeling, too. As I said a year ago:

Do you think you made it because you got accepted? Wait for what is next before being too happy too soon!

So my million dollar question is: Do You Have a Vision?

If you don’t (and it might be the case) you better start thinking about it. When we have the great opportunity to pursue one of the most complicated and rare professional career “Design” we have to make sure not to fail, not to be poor at it, not to be average, not to be too happy too soon. Be honest you know the type of progression and improvement you need to be better than someone in you class, now if you compare your skills with someone from other schools around…you know you have still a long way to go! Face it and assume responsibility for it!

When you realize the type of improvements you must make, how you would like to improve on your projects for your future portfolio quality, how to get your first internship, what is needed to do, when you realize all this you will start having a vision. It is about how to be in that school for doing what later once you will have your diploma or bachelor.

Do you want to become just a nice designer or an influent one?

We all need a vision to find our dimension and our role in society (think about a family or parents’ roles) or in a design studio, unless we are just average and I do not think it would be enough satisfying.

When you have a vision you will find your targets and if you work hard to accomplish them you will get somewhere someday for sure.

Got the point?

Luciano
